Job Overview Job Title: Trades Maintenance Supervisor – Facilities Management Department. Job Type: Classified Classification: 5384 – Trades Maintenance Supervisor Salary Grade: 14 Pay Range: Hiring Range: $63,544 – $76,252 (Annually) All-inclusive Range: $63,544 – $88,961 (Annually) Location: Pima County Adult Detention Center. Schedule: On‑call hours including nights and weekends. First review of applications will be on 06/19/2026. Essential Functions Direct and participate in analysis, repair, and maintenance of equipment, systems and vehicles. Supervise skilled fabrication, modifications and inspections of equipment, systems and facilities based on technical references or plans. Monitor and ensure proper functioning of equipment and systems through quality control analysis and corrective actions. Maintain detailed records of activity, service and usage for supported vehicles, equipment and systems. Direct scheduling and planning of maintenance activities using computer‑based systems. Develop and adjust work‑unit budgets and prepare estimates for unique maintenance and special projects. Prepare oral and written reports on activity, operations and expenditures. Inspect and certify the work of others, if certified or authorized. Assist in the development of Requests for Bids, contract provisions and bid proposal evaluations. Coordinate work‑unit activities with other teams, agencies and contractors. Monitor contractor performance and manage procurement‑related activities. Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with safety protocols. Supervise and provide training on safety, skills and techniques to assigned work‑unit staff. Ensure compliance with federal, state and county policies and procedures. Direct maintenance, repairs and pest control for turf grasses, trees and ornamental shrubs. Minimum Qualifications Five years of journeyman‑level commercial/industrial building maintenance experience, including one year of supervisory experience. OR: One year with Pima County as a Trades Maintenance Specialist II (or closely related position) plus two years of lead experience. Relevant education and experience must be clearly documented in application sections. Preferred Qualifications Minimum six years of experience with/knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, carpentry, general building maintenance and energy management control and access systems. Experience with applicable building codes and OSHA regulations. Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel). Experience coordinating construction/remodeling projects including estimating and preparing budgets, and short and long‑range maintenance planning. Minimum three years of supervisory or lead experience. Selection Procedure Pima County Human Resources reserves the right to admit only candidates who meet the minimum qualifications. May require Arizona commercial driver license (CDL) during probation. May require herbicide/pesticide applicator or backflow device inspector/repair person installer credentials. All relevant licenses and certifications must be maintained; failure constitutes grounds for termination. Special Notice Items Ability to obtain jail pass required. Safely operate assigned vehicles and other powered equipment. Work in extremes of heat, humidity, dust, cold. Safely wear required safety clothing and equipment. Work with or in the presence of noxious odors or hazardous chemicals. Ascend and descend ladders and stairs to reach elevated or below‑grade work platforms and job sites. Differentiate between colors. Hearing in noisy areas, on a radio or equipment alarms. Speaking in person, on the phone, on a radio. Vision – operate a motor vehicle, operate machinery, distinguish colors, have depth perception. Working Conditions Position requires on‑call hours.
