Food Services Ordering Specialist

Overview Primary City/State: Deer Valley – 19829 N 27th Ave Phoenix, AZ 85027. Category: Food Service. Shift: Day (4:30am-1pm). Department: Food Services. Full Time – varied days. Job Summary The Food Services Specialist directs the opening and closing of the department; leads, directs, and assigns work to all assigned staff, checks and adjusts staffing for absenteeism and workload to ensure adequate coverage for essential positions and redistributes work assignments to meet service demand. Responsibilities Open and close department at beginning and end of shift. Adjust staffing for absenteeism and workload. Assign tasks, coordinate preparation and production of food required for all service points. Lead, direct and assign work to all assigned staff. Check production tally against patient census, cafeteria requirements, retail areas, diet office, and catering. Adjust amounts to meet projected volume. Prep and complete food items for service as needed. Assume grill cooking and entrée service tasks as required. Monitor flow of customers at all cash register stations and resolve cashiering conflicts and delays. Monitor use of equipment and perform preventive maintenance per specifications and requirements. Monitor patient menu selection process and evaluate selected menus for nutritional balance and compliance with written physician orders. Ensure that “scripting standards” and modified diet standards are met at patient bedside or during selection process. Supervise all Diet Office activities, ensuring accurate and timely processing of diet orders, patient clinical nutrition information and meal calls. Maintain records of meals served, nourishment preparation & delivery, and tube feeding prescriptions. Monitor patient census and adjust work assignments to meet meal and call processing service demands. Inspect all areas for compliance with Maricopa County Health Department Food Code and maintain sanitation standards. Ensure compliance with Nutrition Protocols, Infection Control, Food Safety, OSHA, Arizona Department of Health and County Health Department regulations. Train new staff and retrain existing staff; orient staff to all areas of Food Services. Evaluate task competencies, telephone skills, and service skills. Report performance strengths, concerns, and variances to Supervisor and resolve problems and service disruptions with a high standard of customer service. Follow up on complaints to ensure corrective actions. May be assigned to work any position in assigned work area as needed. Demonstrate willingness to assist with additional duties and adjust individual priorities to meet service needs. Plan, schedule, and coordinate catering for meetings, conferences, and education events; select menus, forecast products required, and arrange for rental items; prepare food, set up, and serve catering clients. Education Bachelor’s degree preferred. High School Diploma or GED preferred. Experience 1 year related experience required. 3 years Hospital Food Service experience. 3 years Food Service, Diet Representative, or Diet Technician experience preferred. Licenses and Certifications Food Handlers Card – Certification required upon hire. Manager Food Handlers Card – Certification required.
