Licensed Mental Health Therapist (LCSW)

Job Overview Columbia Mental Health is seeking a compassionate, Licensed Mental Health Therapist (LCSW) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services department in Washington, DC. As an integral member of our interdisciplinary treatment team, you will provide comprehensive, person-centered psychotherapy and care coordination for adults, adolescents, and families experiencing a wide range of mental health conditions. Responsibilities In this role, you will conduct thorough biopsychosocial assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, trauma-informed care, and other advanced therapeutic modalities. You will maintain an active caseload, provide individual, group, and family therapy as appropriate, and collaborate closely with psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to support holistic, integrated care. You will monitor clinical progress, regularly update treatment plans, document all services in our electronic health record system in a timely and accurate manner, and coordinate referrals to community resources and higher levels of care when needed. A key part of this position involves ongoing risk assessment and safety planning, including responding to crises, conducting suicide and violence risk assessments, and following established clinical and ethical guidelines. Qualifications The ideal candidate is an LCSW who is dedicated to evidence-based practice, demonstrates strong clinical judgment, and is skilled at building therapeutic rapport with diverse populations. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced outpatient setting, managing a structured schedule, and balancing direct clinical care with documentation and coordination tasks. Strong communication skills, cultural humility, and a commitment to trauma-informed, recovery-oriented care are essential.
