Cost Accountant

AMETEK’s Advanced Measurement Technology (AMT) business unit, within the Materials Analysis Division of AMETEK’s Electronic Instruments Group, has an opening for a Cost Accountant. The Cost Accountant is a hands‑on finance professional who performs a variety of routine operational and accounting duties requiring some solo judgment. The ideal candidate is highly organized, has excellent communication skills, and an understanding of manufacturing accounting. Costing Activities Ensure accurate product costing – including reviewing BOMs, overhead rates, etc. Provide accurate cost and analysis for pricing review Make‑vs‑Buy analysis Drive the annual standard cost review Coordinate annual physical inventory in Oakridge and Athens sites and spot‑check cycle counts every month in those sites Create and monitor special project accounting Support operations by creating/maintaining dashboards, metrics, and other relevant reporting Plan, coordinate, and assist reconciliation of cycle counts and physical inventories Create/maintain documentation of the procedures performed Brainstorm and help implement cost reductions/process improvements Other duties as assigned GL Activities Assist with month‑end closing and preparation of monthly financial statements Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures Prepare and ensure accuracy of account reconciliations Prepare journal entries Assist with internal and external audit requests Ensure corporate/divisional policies and procedures are followed Prepare ad‑hoc reports/analysis and communicate cross‑functionally Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills Strong analytical skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision 3 to 5 years of relevant experience Exposure to Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) Exposure to Oracle ERP System Manufacturing‑related experience Standard cost build‑up experience through BOM and routings in a manufacturing environment About the Business Unit Advanced Measurement Technology (AMT) is a global leader in high‑precision instrumentation for nuclear spectroscopy, cryo‑cooling engineering, X‑ray and gamma‑ray detection, electrochemical analysis, and electronic signal recovery.
