Senior Litigation Attorney

Cozen O’Connor seeks an experienced litigator to join its Atlanta office in the Global Insurance Department. The successful candidate will handle sophisticated, high-exposure litigation involving property and casualty claims, transportation and trucking matters, commercial litigation, environmental and toxic tort claims, and other complex civil litigation. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with nationally recognized trial lawyers and insurance industry leaders on significant matters throughout the country.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a substantial litigation caseload from inception through resolution.
• Handle all phases of litigation, including pleadings, written discovery, depositions, expert discovery, motion practice, mediations, arbitrations, and trial preparation.
• Represent insurers, corporations, transportation companies, logistics providers, and other commercial clients in complex litigation matters.
• Defend and advise clients in matters involving:
• Property and casualty litigation
• Transportation and trucking litigation
• Commercial litigation and business disputes
• Environmental and toxic tort litigation
• Mass tort and catastrophic loss claims
• Contract and indemnification disputes
• Take and defend fact witness, corporate representative, and expert depositions.
• Draft and argue dispositive motions and other substantive filings.
• Work closely with experts, consultants, and clients to develop case strategy.
• Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and legal staff.
• Collaborate with attorneys across multiple offices on complex national matters.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
• Admission to the Georgia Bar or eligibility for prompt admission.
• 8+ years of litigation experience.
• Demonstrated experience handling complex civil litigation matters through all phases of litigation.
• Significant deposition, motion practice, mediation, and trial preparation experience.
• Experience representing insurance carriers, transportation companies, logistics providers, manufacturers, or other commercial entities is preferred.
• Experience with insurance coverage litigation, transportation and trucking matters, environmental litigation, toxic torts, mass torts, or complex casualty claims is highly desirable.
• Excellent written and oral advocacy skills.
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and client counseling abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple matters and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to client service and teamwork.
