Job Summary Massachusetts General Hospital - Boston Seeking career-oriented respiratory therapists with solid knowledge of adult respiratory care disease processes, exceptional critical thinking skills, and independent work habits. Responsibilities Provide extensive respiratory care practices across the institution, including all aspects of mechanical ventilation (NPPV and HFOV) and monitoring/manage patients with various artificial airways. Clinical assignments include adult, pediatric, neonatal ICUs; the Acute Respiratory Care Ventilator Unit; the Emergency/Trauma Room; and general care areas. Administer nitric oxide, Heliox, aerosolized antibiotics, assist with bronchoscopies, and perform percutaneous tracheostomy insertions. Serve as a member of Rapid Response, Code, and Trauma Teams. Neonatal/pediatric responsibilities include surfactant administration, responding to high-risk deliveries, and performing endotracheal intubations. Initiate, manage, and wean adult and neonatal/pediatric ECMO cases. Participate actively in clinical research projects. Complete a comprehensive 12-week new employee orientation with preceptors, classes, and equipment labs; engage in ongoing in-service education programs with advanced training in pediatric and neonatal critical care and ECMO. Qualifications Education Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy required. Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy preferred. Licenses and Credentials Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through NBRC preferred. Neonatal Resuscitation Certification (NRP) preferred. Respiratory Therapist (Massachusetts) preferred. Respiratory Care Practitioner (State License) HR only preferred. Experience 0–1 year Respiratory Care experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Expertise in Respiratory Therapy and ability to communicate effectively with patients, team members, and other healthcare disciplines. Ability to assess quickly, offer professional judgment, prepare appropriate care plans, and make specific recommendations to physicians. Strong communication skills. Ability to walk distances and push medical equipment weighing less than 100 pounds. May be required to stand immobile for long periods of time. Additional Job Details
