Job Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor and Delivery

Position Description:

The Labor and Delivery unit specializes in providing care for various patient cases, including deliveries, circulating c-sections, antepartum patients, and initial assessments of newborns.

General Information:

Shift: Nights - 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
Start Date: As soon as possible
Weekend Requirement: Yes
On Call Requirement: No
Floating Requirement: No floating between units

Nurse/Patient Ratio:

1:1 for patients on Pitocin for induction or augmentation.
1:2 for cervical ripening (Cytotec or low dose Pitocin).
1:2-3 for antepartum patients (depending on acuity).
1:2-3 in triage.
1:1 for immediate postpartum care (first 2 hours post-birth for both mother and baby).

Dress Code: Navy blue or pink scrubs

Qualifications:

BLS certification required.
RN License in the state of employment or compact.
Current certification required in one of the following: AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring Instructor, AWHONN Instructor Trainer, or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM), with certification obtained within one month of passing the test.
Current NRP certification required.
Current ACLS certification required.
