Brake Press Operator – Structural & Plate Steel

Peoplelink Staffing Solutions in partnership with a prominent client in  Livonia, MI within the  Steel Product Manufacturing industry.

Brake Press Operator Job Summary:

• $18/hour based on experience.
• 1st Shift 6am-2:30PM/4:30PM Monday–Friday, Overtime on Saturday as necessary
• Set up and operate press brake machines to bend and form structural and plate steel components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and bend specifications.
• Select and install proper tooling, dies, and fixtures based on material type and thickness.
• Set up machines properly according to material specifications and production requirements.
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to ensure quality standards are met.
• Make machine adjustments to maintain tolerances and part accuracy.
• Safely handle raw materials and finished products.
• Wear properly fitted PPE, including but not limited to gloves, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and hearing protection.
• Work in an efficient, safe, and productive manner.
• Maintain, support, and follow all standards as specified in the Quality Management System.
• Provide support to other employees on essential job functions when required.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace and maintain shop floor organization and cleanliness as directed by management.
• May be trained on additional machines as needed.
• Must be able and willing to learn.
• Engage in other related duties and responsibilities as directed by management.

Brake Press Operator Qualifications:

• 6 months to 1 year of press brake or metal fabrication experience required.
• Willing to train the right candidate with a strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read a tape measure and basic blueprints.
• Basic understanding of steel materials, gauges, and bend allowances preferred.
• Must have steel or composite toe boots/shoes.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must demonstrate and maintain a courteous and professional attitude.

Shop Rules:

• NO VAPING or SMOKING in the building
• Steel or composite toe boots or shoes required
• Safety glasses to be worn at ALL times while on the shop floor
• No cell phones on the shop floor
• Ear buds and music are ok — 1 in and 1 out ONLY
