Family Program Coordinator

Not a remote or hybrid position. This role requires 100% onsite work in Cordova, Alaska. Who We Are The Native Village of Eyak (NVE) is a federally recognized Tribal government based in Cordova, Alaska—a remote, roadless community nestled between the eastern Chugach Mountains and the waters of Prince William Sound. The Ilanka Community Health Center is a primary care outpatient clinic serving the Cordova community. As both an Indian Health Service facility and a Community Health Center, Ilanka offers affordable, high-quality care through contract health services and sliding fee scales. POSITION SUMMARY

The Family Program Coordinator engages tribal youth and families through outreach, cultural programs, and community activities. This role organizes monthly youth events, cultural camps, afterschool programs, and family-centered activities while fostering connections with local agencies and regional communities. The Coordinator also supports cultural initiatives like Culture Week and Nuuciq camp, and facilitates the Tribal Youth Council. The position requires strong organizational skills, cultural awareness, and the ability to collaborate with families, schools, and community partners to support youth development and cultural preservation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

1.1. Contacts Tribal youth about upcoming events and other opportunities. 1.2. Plans and holds youth activities (monthly) and events (quarterly). 1.3. Outreach to Tribal children locally and long distance for birthdays, upcoming events, etc. 1.4. Outreach and collaboration with communities of Prince William Sound. 1.5. Assists with maintaining a database of Tribal youth and families, collaborating with the Enrollment Department. 1.6. Assists with maintaining a database of NVE and other agency events open to youth.

1. 7. Collaborates with local agencies on family activities.
2. Cultural

2.1. Miqwanwasaq Cultural Day Camp preparation with the Cultural Summer Intern. 2.2. Oversees Cultural Summer Intern and provides instruction on new projects and assignments. 2.3. Organizes, implements, and oversees assistant who leads youth through day camp activities. 2.4. Coordinates Peksulineq applications, chaperones and the travel annually. 2.5. Involvement with Annual Culture Week with Cordova School District. 2.6. Coordinates Nuuciq applications and assists with travel annually. 2.7. Manages Tribal Youth Council and prepares for meetings. 2.8. Coordinates with other Tribal Family Services programs and Cultural Center for youth and family activities.

1. 9. Coordinates Afterschool Club for help with homework and integrating cultural activities.
2. Event Planning/Implementation

3.1. Coordinates family activities and programs for tribal and community members. 3.2. Coordinates Car Seat Safety program. 3.3. Coordinates Annual Backpack Bash and Smart Kicks distributions for Tribal Youth. 3.4. Coordinatates Jr and Sr NYO seasons

4. ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF ALL STAFF

4.1. Works safely in accordance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies. 4.2. Immediately reports unsafe conditions, hazards, or injuries to HR or the designated safety contact. 4.3. Attends all mandatory special events, meetings, and trainings. 4.4. Assists with special events, meetings, and trainings as necessary. 4.5. Maintains confidentiality at all times. 4.6. Maintains awareness and sensitivity to various cultures. 4.7. Embodies Tribal values throughout all work. 4.8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with youth and co-workers. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Skilled in email, calendar, and scheduling tools. Comfortable with online collaboration platforms (e.g., Teams, Sharepoint, Zoom). Able to enter, manage, and retrieve data from databases. Quick to learn and adapt to new software or technology. Experience with MIP Accounting, Microix, SmartSheets, Fleetio, or Rippling is a plus.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Two years’ experience working or volunteering in the social services field. Certificates & Licenses: Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an insurable driving record in accordance with the company’s auto insurance policy requirements.
