Orthopedic Physical Therapist

Role Overview The Physical Therapist provides medically prescribed therapy aimed at relieving pain, restoring function, and preventing disability caused by disease, injury, or loss of a body part. Key Responsibilities Designs and implements individualized therapy programs using exercises, manual techniques, heat, water, light, and electrical modalities. Performs diagnostic and functional tests on muscles, nerves, and joints; guides active and passive exercises, muscle reeducation, and gait training. Utilizes specialized equipment such as ultrasound, diathermy, whirlpools, and heat packs. Provides patient education on postural control, therapeutic exercises, and use of assistive devices. Conducts evaluations, tracks progress, and collaborates with the rehabilitation team. May supervise assistants, aides, volunteers, and participate in training others in physical therapy techniques. Treats patients with burn wounds and open wounds as directed by a physician. Qualifications & Skills Education: High school diploma required; a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) is required after certain standards are met. Experience: Relevant experience in physical therapy, with specific durations and types preferred. Certifications & Licenses: Licensed Physical Therapist required; certifications include Basic Life Support (BLS), Pelvic Health (preferred), and specialized certifications as needed. Other Requirements: Must obtain certain certifications within 90 days, including Pelvic Health if preferred. Skills Needed Knowledge of therapeutic techniques and equipment. Strong communication and patient education skills. Ability to perform assessments and develop treatment plans. Supervisory and training abilities are a plus. #J-18808-Ljbffr
