Details Work in the Surgery Room/OR unit of a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated hospital 28-bed unit including 2 hybrid rooms for CV/Vascular procedures Approximately 60-75 surgical cases per day, with the hybrid room handling 5-10 cases per day Patient population includes outpatient, inpatient, and trauma cases such as GSW, stabbings, transplants (kidney, heart), general, GYN, urology, robotics, vascular, ortho, neuro, and open heart/CABG procedures Approximately 20% pediatric cases (open hearts, appendectomy, cholecystectomy) No liver or lung transplant cases; unit participates in Gifts of Hope cases 8-hour day shift scheduled 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM, with additional shift options including 12-hour and mixed 8/12-hour shifts OR operates 24/7, 365 days a year with skeleton crew coverage overnight and after standard weekend hours for trauma and urgent cases Weekend rotation required approximately every 4th weekend (Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday) Schedule is rotation-based with no self-scheduling; assignments made 2-4 weeks ahead on a 6-week schedule No floating required On-call required with approximately 3 call shifts in a 6-week period and a 30-minute response time; sleeping room available for on-call staff EPIC EMR experience required Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing system used Requirements Active IL RN license required BLS certification required Minimum 2-3 years of acute care experience required Minimum 12 months of core experience in OR specialty, with recent experience within the last year Level 1-2 trauma experience required Critical care experience preferred Must be able to scrub and circulate EPIC EMR experience required Candidate's middle name/initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required Additional Information Provide perioperative nursing care across a wide range of surgical specialties including trauma, cardiovascular, transplant, and pediatric cases Work alongside a charge nurse (no patient assignment Monday-Friday, available to assist weekends/evenings), resource nurse, anesthesiologist, surgeons, ANM, educators, service line reps, and EPIC super-users Orientation includes meeting educators and ANM, gaining system login access, completing online modules and EPIC training on day one, followed by unit orientation on days two and three Holiday coverage required, including one winter holiday and one summer holiday All requested time off must be submitted via email to the manager Scrubs provided by facility Free parking available First-time travelers are welcome to apply Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restrictions Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible for this travel assignment American Traveler Job ID P-738096.
