As we continue to expand, we are seeking passionate, detail-oriented, and service-driven individuals to join our dynamic team.The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for overseeing all aspects of vehicle maintenance, repair, and compliance across GCT's transportation systems, supporting a 45+ shuttle and executive luxury operation. This role ensures vehicle safety, reliability, and full DOT/FMCSA compliance while maintaining 24/7/365 operational readiness.The Fleet Mechanic serves as the primary technical resource for all vehicle-related issues and works closely with operations leadership to minimize downtime, coordinate repairs, and optimize system performance.This is a hands-on, safety-critical role requiring strong diagnostic ability, leadership, and the ability to manage maintenance operations in a fast-paced transportation environment.ResponsibilitiesOversee all maintenance and repair operations across GCT's transportation systems, including shuttles, buses, executive sedans, SUVs, and vansDevelop and manage preventive maintenance schedules to ensure reliability and minimize downtimeDiagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel-related issues across all vehicle typesCoordinate mobile repair services and manage relationships with external vendors and service providersManage parts inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships to ensure timely repairs and cost efficiencyEnsure all vehicles are consistently maintained to operational and safety standardsEnsure all vehicles meet DOT/FMCSA safety and compliance standards at all timesReview and verify Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) submitted via the Motive platformMaintain comprehensive maintenance records, inspection logs, and compliance documentationCoordinate annual inspections, emissions testing, and required regulatory inspectionsRespond to and document vehicle-related incidents or accidents for insurance and safety reportingImplement and enforce safety protocols and best practicesSupervise and coordinate maintenance technicians and mobile mechanicsProvide training and mentorship on repair procedures, safety standards, and operational best practicesWork closely with operations and shift managers to prioritize repairs and maintain vehicle availabilityRespond to emergency breakdowns and coordinate roadside assistance when neededCoordinate with mobile fuel and vehicle cleaning service providers to support daily operationsSupport continuous operational readiness for 24/7 serviceMaintain detailed maintenance logs and service records for all vehiclesPrepare and submit reports on vehicle status, repair costs, and overall system performanceManage maintenance budgets and track expenses to improve efficiencyIdentify cost-saving opportunities across maintenance operationsCoordinate warranty claims and insurance documentation for vehicle damage or defectsUtilize fleet management systems (e.g., Motive) to track vehicle health and maintenance needsRequirements5+ years of experience as a diesel or automotive mechanic, including supervisory experiencePersonal maintenance truck and tools preferredASE certifications preferred; CDL Class B license or ability to obtain within 90 days preferredStrong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA vehicle compliance and inspection requirementsExperience working with motorcoaches, Blue Bird activity buses, Starcraft mini coaches, Ford Transits, Mercedes vehicles, Van Terras, Ford Expeditions, and Volvo vehicles strongly preferredProven ability to diagnose and repair diesel engines, air brake systems, electrical systems, and hydraulic systemsStrong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to train and mentor techniciansProficiency with fleet management software and computer-based diagnostic toolsAbility to prioritize multiple repair projects and effectively manage emergency situationsExcellent communication skills, with the ability to coordinate with operations staff and external vendorsMust be able to work in a 24/7/365 operational environment, including on-call availability for emergency repairsWillingness to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed to support business demandsAbility to respond to urgent maintenance needs and vehicle breakdowns outside of standard business hoursComfortable working in a workshop and field environment, including physical activity such as lifting, bending, and use of toolsAbility to work extended hours during vehicle emergencies or critical maintenance periodsAvailability for on-call emergency repairs as requiredAbility to support operations across multiple locations, including primary facility and Dorchester shuttle yard
