Paralegal - Landlord & Tenant Law

We are looking for a detail-oriented Landlord-Tenant & Collections Paralegal to support the legal and operational needs of a New York real estate portfolio. This position will sit at the intersection of property management, ownership, accounting, and outside legal counsel, helping ensure landlord-tenant and collections matters are handled efficiently and remain on track. The Paralegal will take ownership of tracking active cases, coordinating documentation, communicating with attorneys and property teams, monitoring deadlines, and providing management with clear visibility into legal matters. The ideal candidate is someone who understands New York landlord-tenant proceedings and can confidently manage multiple cases while maintaining strong attention to detail. Responsibilities: Serve as the central point of coordination between property management, ownership, internal legal leadership, and outside counsel on landlord-tenant and collections matters. Manage the flow of information between property teams and attorneys handling eviction proceedings, disputes, collections, and other property-related legal issues. Maintain a comprehensive tracking system for active cases, court matters, administrative proceedings, deadlines, and required follow-up. Regularly communicate case developments, outstanding items, upcoming deadlines, and other relevant updates to ownership and management. Coordinate with property managers and accounting teams to collect leases, rent ledgers, payment histories, notices, correspondence, and other documentation required for legal proceedings. Work closely with outside counsel to ensure cases progress efficiently and required information is provided in a timely manner. Monitor legal deadlines and follow up with the appropriate parties to prevent delays or missed requirements. Assist with matters involving landlord-tenant disputes, eviction proceedings, small claims, and other routine property-related litigation. Coordinate with property management and accounting teams to help ensure court-related requirements and settlement obligations are properly addressed. Prepare and organize routine legal correspondence, notices, internal communications, and case documentation. Help coordinate resident meetings involving delinquent accounts, outstanding balances, legal proceedings, payment obligations, and other tenancy-related concerns. Review invoices and legal bills submitted by outside counsel, identify discrepancies, and ensure charges are consistent with established budgets and expectations. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. 3–5+ years of paralegal or comparable legal experience, preferably within a law firm, property management organization, real estate company, or corporate legal department. Direct experience with New York landlord-tenant law and proceedings. Strong understanding of eviction, collections, litigation support, and general property-related legal matters. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage numerous active matters simultaneously. Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate case files, tracking systems, and documentation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable communicating with attorneys, property managers, ownership, accounting teams, residents, and other stakeholders. Ability to independently prioritize work, follow up on outstanding items, and meet time-sensitive deadlines. Familiarity with affordable housing regulations, tenant rental assistance programs, Section 8/voucher programs, and NYCHA requirements is a plus. #J-18808-Ljbffr Genuine Search Group
