Preschool Teacher

Preschool Teacher Location: Palo Alto, California. About this Position We are seeking a highly qualified Preschool Teacher to join our team at PACCC preschool programs. The Preschool Teacher will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children ages 2 years old through kindergarten entry. Responsibilities include developing and implementing an age‑appropriate curriculum, assessing child progress, communicating with parents, maintaining a clean and organized center, and ensuring the safety and well‑being of all children in care. Essential Functions Fosters cooperative behavior through group and individual projects to help children form satisfying relationships. Supervises activities such as exploration, group discussions, dramatic play, and broadens children's understanding of their physical and social environment. Encourages singing, dancing, rhythmic activities, and use of art materials to promote self‑expression and aesthetic appreciation; supports gross‑motor and fine‑motor development. Taught children practices of cleanliness and self‑care. Alternates periods of strenuous activity with periods of rest or light activity to avoid over‑stimulation and fatigue. Observes children to detect signs of ill health or emotional disturbance, evaluates progress. Communicates significant behaviors and progress to parents through observation and recording. Documents incidents of injury and health or behavior issues. Observes, sees, hears, and responds to children's needs on center grounds and during off‑site excursions. Lifts up to 30 pounds from floor to waist level 10‑15 times per day; responds to a child's needs 30 feet away within 30 seconds without danger to staff health. Minimum Qualifications Completion of 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education (ECE), including core units in Child Development, Child, Family, Community, and Curriculum. Experience working with young children in a classroom setting. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and staff. Preferred Qualifications Child Development Permit. Experience working with diverse populations. Experience with Reggio Emilia and/or play‑based philosophy. Experience with technology integration in the classroom. Bilingual (optional). Additional Requirements Must be vaccinated for measles and pertussis; must obtain annual flu vaccine or provide a signed declination form; must be tested for TB upon hire. Must complete a pre‑employment physical. Must complete and pass a fingerprint background clearance check. Work Schedule & Benefits 8‑hour, full‑time shifts between 7:30 am and 6:00 pm with an unpaid meal break as required. 40 hrs/wk. Full benefits. Salary $26.19 – $31.36 hourly wage.
