Commercial Credit Manager, Large Corporate

Overview The Commercial Credit Manager leads a team of credit professionals responsible for evaluating, underwriting, and managing a portfolio of commercial credit relationships. Responsibilities include ensuring adherence to credit policies, maintaining portfolio quality, and collaborating with relationship managers to support business growth. Primary Responsibilities Lead and partner with the sales team throughout the deal process including screening, approval, and ongoing monitoring. Provide credit quality assessments and recommend credit structures, risk ratings, and risk mitigants for the bank’s largest commercial clients. Conduct detailed financial statement, industry, collateral, cash‑flow analyses and determine risk ratings. Oversee day‑to‑day activities of the Commercial Credit team, ensuring accurate underwriting and credit monitoring (CCM) for the portfolio. Implement and maintain credit surveillance programs such as annual reviews, interim update memos, covenant monitoring, and problem‑loan management. Prepare risk assessments and reports, maintain work logs, and produce monthly productivity reports for management. Train and mentor team members, evaluate work quality, and provide coaching. Resolve policy, accounting or credit issues, and maintain knowledge of accounting pronouncements affecting bank credits. Recruit, develop, and retain a highly talented credit team. Exercise managerial authority over staffing, performance, promotions, and terminations. Design and maintain internal controls to mitigate risk and address audit and regulator requirements. Scope of Responsibilities Provide credit assessments for initial relationships, material modifications, restructurings, and ongoing monitoring throughout the loan life. Ensure accurate completion of risk‑rating scorecards and financial statement spreads. Support Regional Credit Officers and Loan Committees with timely, informed credit decisions. Maintain bench strength within the group and interact with senior management across defense layers. Supervisory / Managerial Responsibilities Supervise and mentor a team of up to ten Commercial Credit professionals. Education and Experience Required Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline. Minimum nine years of related experience with three years in a supervisory or leadership role. Strong analytical, decision‑making, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in financial modeling, risk assessment tools, and credit portfolio management systems. Experience with complex credit structures, syndicated loans, and credit risk rating models. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Education and Experience Preferred MBA, advanced degree, or CPA. Experience with Capital IQ, FactSet, and Bloomberg. Pay Range $194,500.00 – $324,100.00 annual (USD).
