We're seeking a Commercial Credit Analyst I to join our Commercial Lending team.

In this role, you'll support commercial and agricultural lending by performing credit analysis, assisting with underwriting decisions, monitoring portfolio performance, and helping Members and businesses achieve their financial goals through sound lending practices.

• Work Environment: This position is based within Hoosier Hills Credit Union's Commercial Lending operations. Following successful completion of training and demonstrated proficiency, this position may be eligible for 1 to 2 days of a hybrid work arrangement based on business needs and manager approval.

Opportunity Overview:

As a Commercial Credit Analyst I, you'll support the underwriting and portfolio management functions of the commercial and agricultural lending team. You'll analyze financial statements, tax returns, cash flows, and collateral information while assisting Relationship Managers and senior credit personnel in making sound credit decisions. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in commercial credit analysis, risk assessment, and lending policy administration.

What You'll Do:

Credit Analysis & Underwriting

• Spread and analyze business and personal financial statements.
• Perform cash flow analysis, debt service coverage calculations, and financial trend reviews.
• Review borrower financial performance and identify potential credit risks.
• Analyze commercial and agricultural loan requests, including:
  • Unsecured business loans
  • Commercial credit card requests
  • Commercial vehicle loans
  • Equipment financing requests
  • Agricultural operating, livestock, and farm equipment loans
  • Small business term loans and lines of credit
• Prepare credit approval memorandums and underwriting summaries.
• Assist with risk rating analysis and collateral evaluations.
• Utilize financial spreading, tax analysis, and loan origination systems to support lending decisions.

Portfolio Management Support

• Complete annual relationship reviews, renewals, and portfolio maintenance activities.
• Monitor financial reporting requirements and covenant compliance.
• Identify portfolio trends and potential credit concerns.
• Assist with documentation collection and financial information updates.
• Support portfolio quality through timely completion of review responsibilities.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with HHCU lending policies and regulatory requirements.
• Complete all required BSA, AML, OFAC, and compliance training.
• Maintain awareness of commercial lending guidelines and risk management expectations.
• Escalate identified credit concerns appropriately.
• Support the Credit Union's overall risk management framework through accurate and timely analysis.

Teamwork & Collaboration

• Partner with Relationship Managers and lending staff to support quality credit decisions.
• Assist with reports, special projects, and departmental initiatives.
• Maintain effective communication with team members and leadership.
• Support other departments as needed and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

What We're Looking For:

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field preferred.
• Formal industry certifications recognized as equivalent to a Bachelor's degree may also be considered.

Relevant Experience

• Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a credit union, banking, loan operations, accounting, finance, credit review, or related financial services environment is preferred.
• Prior experience performing commercial credit analysis, including financial statement analysis, cash flow analysis, tax return review, and evaluation of commercial credit relationships, is required.

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of accounting principles and financial statement analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of financial ratios, cash flow analysis, and credit risk evaluation.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Commitment to providing exceptional Member service and maintaining confidentiality.
• Ability to occasionally travel to branch locations, team meetings, training events, or other Hoosier Hills Credit Union business functions may be required.
