SENIOR EOF COUNSELOR

Position Overview Senior EOF Counselor – Rutgers University – Newark. The role reports to the Assistant Dean/Assistant Director of Counseling Services in the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) program. Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week. Key Responsibilities Assist in programmatic development and implementation of the EOF Program, ensuring successful academic achievement and graduation for a designated caseload of Rutgers University – Newark undergraduate students. Provide orientation to campus culture and academic, career, financial aid, and personal counseling. Act as liaison, maintaining contact with faculty, academic advisors, residence life, student life, financial aid, student accounting, registrar’s office, admissions, the Learning Resource and Writing Centers, and other internal/external special programs. Develop, initiate, and administer special projects and services for the summer program’s academic component and specified EOF populations to promote leadership, holistic growth, and achievement. Conduct outreach on behalf of EOF students to outside community constituents, agencies, and schools. Teach a credit‑bearing course during the summer bridge program and during the academic year focusing on strategies for academic success. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree, preferably in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field. Minimum two years of experience working with students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Expertise in supporting non‑traditional college students and ability to implement academic and affective support. Experience developing and conducting academic support workshops, with strong writing, analytical, and presentation skills. Willingness to work with diverse cultures and backgrounds. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to assess program participants per EOF program requirements. Salary and Compensation Salary may range from $76,820 to $112,439 per year, based on qualifications, experience, expertise, and availability of departmental or grant funds.
