SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST

Mission Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) mission is to lead the DoD in finance and accounting by ensuring the delivery of efficient, exceptional quality pay and financial information. Telework Availability Telework availability is limited and will only be provided on a rare case‑by‑case basis during situations where Agency Leadership has determined that telework serves a compelling DoD need. GS-07 Specialized Experience One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-06) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. GS-07 Experience Definition Assisting in the planning, organizing, and evaluation of safety and occupational health programs; Implementing local safety and occupational health policies; Investigating and documenting accidents and mishaps. GS-09 Specialized Experience One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-07) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. GS-09 Experience Definition Applying recognized safety, environmental, and health principles, standards, laws and techniques to assist in the management and evaluation of a safety or occupational health program or program element; Providing technical advice and guidance to management and employees on occupational safety and health requirements; Assisting in the development of standards, regulations, practices and procedures to eliminate or control potential hazards. Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment.
