Description The mission of the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet (EEC) is to improve the quality of life for all Kentuckians by protecting land, air, and water resources while using natural resources in an environmentally conscientious manner. EEC supports innovative, resilient, and sustainable energy solutions that bring economic benefit to the commonwealth. As a member of the Division for Air Quality, Program Planning and Administration Branch, Evaluation Section in Franklin County, you will work on the state implementation, attainment, and maintenance of National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) in Kentucky. Holders of this position will: Review federal NAAQS updates. Draft revisions to the state implementation plan. Research applicable Clean Air Act EPA guidance documents for NAAQS implementation. Training opportunities include: Conducting public hearings and comment periods. Creating documents conforming to Americans with Disabilities Act laws. Calculating design values for NAAQS determinations. Minimum Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree in a natural, biological, or physical science, or a bachelor’s degree with 20 semester hours in a natural, biological, or physical science. Experience: None required. Experience in natural resources, environmental control, engineering, or a related area substitutes for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Working Conditions Work is typically performed in an office setting but may also be performed in the field with frequent travel statewide, including adverse weather, exposure to wildlife, water-borne pathogens, broken glass, and hazards from electro‑fishing equipment.
