The Clinic Receptionist provides indirect patient care in the medical office/clinic setting. Greets and registers patients. Verifies patient demographic and insurance information. Performs clerical duties. Meets the communication needs of the patient/family, medical office/clinic staff and the medical staff.

Responsibilities:

• Registers all patients, gives new patients medical forms to complete.
• Offers access to patient portal and records in computer system for tracking.
• Verifies patient demographic, employment and insurance information and scans all insurance information.
• Explains billing policies, collects copayments, refers patients without insurance to the PFS Department.
• Calls all patients to verify appointments.
• Prepares encounter slips daily for the following day.
• Schedules new and return appointments; explains registration process and gives directions to new patients; may explain procedure preparation to patients.
• Answers the telephone in a professional and courteous manner; takes messages; directs calls to appropriate staff members.
• Maintains patient schedule each day inputs demographics for new patients.
• Maintains daily patient log.
• Collects payments, writes receipts. Records all incoming payments onto a form for processing.
• Maintains a good working relationship with medical office/clinic staff members and providers.
• Requests medical records as needed and maintains log.
• Scans documents to the EMR.
• Sends all requested medical records per policy and procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• One year experience in a medical office setting.
• Basic computer knowledge
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing: bilingual preferred.
• Ability and willingness to demonstrate and maintain competency as required for job title and the unit(s) area(s) or assignment.
• Excellent communication skills to include oral and written comprehension/expression.
• Ability and willingness to work with patients’ growth and development needs particularly related to the age of patients in the unit(s) area(s) of assignment.
• Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with principles for service excellence.
