Lead Site Reliability Engineer, Enterprise Tech

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We require formal training or certification in site reliability engineering concepts, along with 5+ years of applied experience.
• We need demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities at work to improve SRE workflows, such as incident investigation support and knowledge capture, with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity.
• We expect the ability to assess AI-assisted operational recommendations for correctness and risk, establish guardrails for team usage, and ensure outcomes meet resiliency and security expectations.
• We require strong production software engineering experience in an industry-standard language such as Python, Go, Java, C++, or Rust, with end-to-end delivery and maintenance of real systems.
• We need proven ownership of production systems at scale, including on-call duties, incident response, postmortems, and reliability- and operability-focused design.
• We look for demonstrated SLI/SLO and error-budget experience, or clear ability and motivation to build and institutionalize it, using data to drive reliability decisions.
• We require deep observability skills, including white-box and black-box monitoring, SLO-based alerting, and high-quality telemetry using tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, Datadog, or Dynatrace.
• We need strong nix fundamentals and infrastructure automation experience, including Kubernetes, Terraform, or CI/CD, with an automate-at-scale mindset.
• We expect systems thinking at scale, including clear interfaces and contracts, understanding of failure modes, safe rollouts, and management of complex service dependencies.
• We require a security-first, high-judgment operator and communicator who uses AI tools effectively, knows when not to use them, stays calm during high-severity events, and focuses on reliability, impact, and cost.
• Preferred: networking depth such as routing, switching, security, and packet or flow analysis, or experience operating network-adjacent platforms.
• Preferred: experience across multiple infrastructure domains or programming languages.
• Preferred: ongoing AI skill development, such as context or prompt engineering, agent orchestration, and using AI to redesign workflows for measurable impact.
• Preferred: prior experience in regulated or large-scale enterprise environments.

• We build reliability into the platform through production-grade software, including automation, control loops, self-healing, and tooling that removes manual operations.
• We use declarative, intent-based systems by storing desired state as data in a trusted source of truth and continuously reconciling actual state through automation.
• We treat telemetry and state data as core reliability assets by instrumenting consistently, collecting at scale, and using the data to drive detection, diagnosis, and closed-loop remediation.
• We define SLIs and SLOs with stakeholders and operationalize them through SLO-based alerting, standard telemetry practices, and actionable alerts tied to user impact.
• We own services end to end, including reliability, performance, security, and cost, while leading on-call and major incidents, driving toil reduction, and applying AI across the SDLC with strict validation.
• We use enterprise-authorized AI capabilities in the work environment to speed up major-incident triage, troubleshooting, and post-incident analysis while validating outputs and handling operational data according to sensitivity and security requirements.
• We lead reuse-first adoption of AI-assisted reliability workflows across SDLC and toolchain practices, such as CI/CD quality checks, test and validation automation, and operational readiness, while ensuring traceability, auditability, resiliency, and security controls.
