We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative psychiatrist to join our growing multidisciplinary team. This position may be structured as either part-time or full-time , depending on the selected candidate’s availability and the needs of the organization.

Position Summary

The psychiatrist will provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, clinical consultation, and treatment oversight for individuals receiving outpatient behavioral health and recovery-support services.

The psychiatrist will work collaboratively with psychiatric nurse practitioners, therapists, case managers, substance use counselors, peer support specialists, and other clinical team members to deliver coordinated, person-centered care.

Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments.
• Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
• Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychiatric medications.
• Provide ongoing medication-management appointments.
• Assess patients for safety risks, including suicidal or homicidal ideation, and initiate appropriate interventions.
• Order and review laboratory testing when clinically indicated.
• Provide consultation and clinical guidance to members of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Participate in treatment-planning meetings, case consultations, and care-coordination activities.
• Complete timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation.
• Follow applicable federal and Alaska laws, professional standards, confidentiality requirements, and organizational policies.
• Coordinate care with primary care providers, hospitals, pharmacies, community agencies, and other healthcare professionals.
• Support quality-improvement, utilization-review, and clinical-compliance activities.
• Provide services through telehealth or in person based on patient needs and program requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency program.
• Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in Alaska or eligibility to obtain an Alaska medical license.
• Board certification or board eligibility in psychiatry.
• Current DEA registration and eligibility to prescribe controlled substances in Alaska.
• Ability to complete required credentialing and payer-enrollment processes.
• Knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis, psychopharmacology, crisis assessment, and evidence-based treatment practices.
• Ability to maintain accurate and timely electronic health records.
• Strong communication, clinical judgment, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Board certification in general psychiatry or child and adolescent psychiatry.
• Experience treating individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
• Experience in community behavioral health, outpatient psychiatry, crisis services, or Alaska Medicaid programs.
• Familiarity with Alaska’s behavioral health system and 1115 Behavioral Health or Substance Use Disorder Waiver services.
• Experience providing telepsychiatry services.
• Experience working with culturally diverse, rural, Alaska Native, or underserved populations.
• Experience treating substance use disorders, including prescribing medications for opioid use disorder.

Schedule

This position may be structured as either part-time or full-time .

Flexible scheduling may be available, including a combination of psychiatric evaluations, medication-management appointments, case consultations, and treatment-team participation. Specific days, hours, and work arrangements will be mutually agreed upon based on the candidate’s availability and organizational needs.

Compensation

Competitive compensation based on experience, qualifications, schedule, and whether the position is structured as employment or an independent-contractor arrangement. Compensation details will be discussed during the interview process.
