Position Details

• Position Type: Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
• Setting: Inpatient behavioral health hospital.
• Availability: Full-time or part-time options.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting thorough medical assessments, including initial history and physical examinations (H&Ps) within 24 hours of admission, as well as follow-ups and discharge planning.
• Collaborating with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and support staff to develop integrated treatment plans that address both medical and mental health needs.
• Co-managing patients with complex medical conditions in conjunction with mental health providers.
• Educating patients and their families about medical conditions, medications, and lifestyle changes to improve overall health.
• Providing medical consultations and recommending necessary diagnostic tests and treatments.
• Delivering emergency care within your scope of practice until specialized assistance is available.

Requirements

• Licensure: Must hold an active Alaska Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant license, or be able to obtain licensure before starting.
• Education: Completion of an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
• Certification: Board certification from AANPCB, ANCC, or NCCPA.
• Experience: Previous clinical experience in an inpatient or acute care setting is preferred; experience in behavioral health is a plus. New graduates with relevant clinical training and a strong interest in behavioral health will also be considered.
