Tractor Trailer Mechanic 2nd Shift

Job Summary Repair company equipment in a safe, timely, cost-effective, and practical manner including performing preventative maintenance, general repairs, troubleshooting, and electronic diagnostics. Primary Responsibilities Build, rebuild, and repair all parts of company equipment as required. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, or other breakdowns or failures in motor trucks or related equipment. Read precision instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, voltmeters, digital multimeters, calibrators, and other electronic diagnostic tools. Troubleshoot and perform failure analysis of component parts and systems on trucks, truck tractors, trailers, or converter dollies. Use welding skills and knowledge of metals to complete truck repairs, including horizontal and vertical welding on converter dollies without air pockets. Apply knowledge of DOT, EPA, ICC, and OSHA rules and regulations. Perform all duties and tasks as assigned, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Job Qualifications Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Experience: Prior work as a maintenance technician or equivalent, with truck repair, body and frame repair experience. Must provide own tools to perform job duties. Ability to complete required paperwork and records. Valid Commercial Driver’s License when required. Working knowledge of most systems on a truck/truck tractor, semi‑trailer, or converter dolly. Proficient at reading precision instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, voltmeters, digital multimeters, calibrators, and other diagnostic tools. Ability to troubleshoot and perform failure analysis of component parts and systems on trucks, truck tractors, trailers, or converter dollies. Knowledge of DOT, EPA, ICC, and OSHA rules and regulations. Willingness to participate in training classes and attend when required, even if it requires shift change. Willing to take written and/or oral tests as required for management and classification. Consistent with company policies; maintain superior customer relations. Willing to work on any piece of rolling stock and associated equipment as directed by the company. Physical Demands Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, lift, and reach in various work environments. Frequently lift and handle objects weighing up to 100 lbs. Must work in hot or cold climates, noisy or odorous environments, and on non‑forgiving surfaces. Attendance is a requirement. Cognitive skills required for safety awareness, memory, logic, auditory and visual processing. Read, write, and speak English.
