D800 Superior Court About the Position ***** $3,000.00 Sign-on bonus! ****** An official Court Reporter provides verbatim reporting of court proceedings. The Court Reporter must prepare accurate and timely transcripts pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes A.R.S. Title 32, Chapter 40. Court Reporters can be assigned to any of the five court locations throughout Maricopa County and work in any court department, including but not limited to grand jury, criminal, civil, family, juvenile, probate/mental health, and administrative hearings. The Judicial Branch provides reimbursement for employees' professional licensure/certification costs required to qualify for and maintain employment, or to legally perform their job. Courtroom environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to communicate clearly, perceive details of objects that are close by, and maintain various physical positions for extended periods, such as sitting, standing, or walking. The job may involve using hands for tasks such as typing, handling objects, or operating tools, as well as reaching with hands and arms. Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

As such, mandatory membership for all full-time employees includes payroll deducted contributions consistent with each retirement system's requirements. The current contribution rate for ASRS is 12.27% and the current contribution rate for PSPRS is 5.84% and up for the defined contribution plan and 8.82% for the defined benefit plan. - High school diploma or GED
- Arizona Certification as a court reporter pursuant to A.R.S. Title 32, Chapter 40.
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire, a valid Arizona driver's license.
- Two years of professional court reporting experience
- Experience transcribing a full range of judicial proceedings
- Certification in real-time reporting
- Courtroom practices and procedures and legal terminology.
- Stenograph or other specialized equipment and court reporting software.
- Preparing transcripts of cases, including researching specialized terminology, statutes or case citations.
- The operation and maintenance of stenograph equipment.
- The use of court reporting software.
- Using standard office machines
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Transcribe court proceedings quickly and accurately.
- Maintain and update computer text, dictionary, and backup files.
- Communicate in a clear, concise and organized manner.
- Reports courtroom proceedings by use of stenograph equipment and computer-aided transcription software.
- Reads aloud from stenographic notes as requested by court or counsel.
- Prepares and produces transcripts of cases as requested by litigants, attorneys, judges and other court personnel.
- Transcript preparation includes extensive research of case citations, statutes, and specialized terminology.
- Edits, proofreads, binds, and certifies transcripts as to true and accurate copy.
- Distributes transcripts to appropriate parties.
- Routinely interacts and corresponds with private sector litigants, attorneys, support staff, paralegals, as well as judges, court personnel, the Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court regarding transcript requests and preparation.
- Maintains and updates computer text, dictionary, and backup files.
- Maintains and updates stenographic equipment and computer equipment.
- Archives electronically produced stenographic notes, as well as all computer-generated stenographic files.
- May assist court office personnel with various duties.
