Dewberry is currently seeking a Site/ Civil Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to join our Site/Civil department in our Orlando, FL office.

This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects serving clients in both the public and private sectors. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated, and hard-working individual to join a team of outstanding professionals while contributing to meaningful projects and applying the latest technologies to solve complex engineering challenges. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced engineers and project managers on a wide range of site / civil development projects. Typical projects include site/civil design for residential, multifamily, commercial, industrial, power, utilities, governmental and other developments of varying sizes and complexities.

Responsibilities

Site/civil engineering design including grading design, roadway design, storm water management systems design, and erosion and sediment control design.
• Preparation of all associated calculations, reports and spreadsheets.
• Participate in fieldwork activities, including site visits, inspections, environmental assistance, construction observation, photo documentation, and natural resource reconnaissance.
• Collaborate and participate within project teams for the development of construction documents and site development plans. Assist with the preparation of technical specifications and permitting documentation.
• Create and produce project deliverables while working closely with other engineers, designers, and project managers.

Required Skills & Required Experience

• Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering.
• Previous internship experience preferred.
• Experience with Water GEMS and Sewer GEMS.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a collaborative team environment.

Summer Intern Program

During the summer intern program, interns gain hands-on project experience, develop technical skills, and put their classroom knowledge into action. Our interns are assigned meaningful work and are given the opportunity to work on projects similar to what they would be engaging with as a full-time employee.

Our interns get the opportunity to participate in a series of workshops and events, including:

• Networking opportunities to meet other interns, staff, and senior leaders across the business.

• Learning about our services, projects, and clients.

• Professional development workshops, including a career planning workshop and a DiSC assessment to learn more about themselves and how to work effectively with others.

• Summer-long group project where interns work alongside firm leaders to address issues that will impact our future strategy.
