Shift Differentials Regular rate applies when work hours fall between 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (no shift differential). Second shift differential rate (7.5 %) applies when half or more of the scheduled work hours fall between 4:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Third shift differential rate (14 %) applies when half or more of the scheduled work hours fall between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Weekend differential rate (20 %) applies when more than half of the scheduled shift hours fall on a weekend shift. Weekend shifts start at 4:00 p.m. Friday through 6:00 a.m. Monday. Responsibilities Patrolling and Call Responses Conduct security patrols of campus and all College buildings and facilities on foot or by other means (i.e., patrol car, bicycle, etc.) and provide stationary security post duties as assigned. Respond to all calls for service directed by radio, telephone and/or supervisory and management personnel of the Security Department. Design and lead campus safety patrol initiatives. Ensure security personnel are notified timely of breaches of security and contact local law enforcement as appropriate. Assume control of situations on campus until emergency responders arrive. Investigations and Reporting Provide initial response to emergencies and incidents on campus and complete initial investigations. Conduct investigations of security matters. Write complete, accurate, and timely reports and maintain logs relating to activity. Utilize computer‑aided reporting systems and collaborate with law enforcement to preserve evidence. Enforcement Control vehicle and pedestrian traffic on campus. Enforce all College rules and regulations. Challenge trespassers, loiterers, and others who pose a safety risk. May temporarily detain individuals in criminal situations. Resolve conflicts and assist with crowd control. Issue campus parking tickets and escort individuals to leave campus or call law enforcement. Emergency Responses Assist in evacuating faculty, staff, and students during emergencies. Provide emergency response and first aid as needed. Serve as initial responder to tornadoes, floods, bomb threats, lockdowns, etc., following proper procedures. Issue timely warnings and notifications and manage all types of emergencies until outside agencies arrive. Maintain required certifications in emergency response areas. Equipment Maintenance and Use Exercise proper care and maintenance of all College‑owned or leased equipment. Maintain proficiency with authorized protection tools and campus security systems. Complete required certifications and recertifications as determined by the College and state law. Class Code & Classification Description H4M3XX – Technician III Minimum Qualifications Experience Only: Three (3) years of work experience in security, campus safety, or law enforcement as the primary function of the job. Detailed application required; part‑time experience is prorated. Education and Experience: College, university, or non‑correspondence business school coursework in Law Enforcement or a similar field may substitute for experience on a year‑for‑year basis. A transcript verifying required credits must be provided. Redact age‑related information on transcript. Highly Desirable: Strong oral and written communication skills; experience working with diverse groups; understanding of rules and regulations; attention to detail; excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Conditions of Employment Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license to operate campus vehicles. Must obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification within six (6) months of hire if not already certified. Must submit to and successfully complete a post‑offer pre‑employment background check, physical, agility, and drug test. Must be 21 years of age. Must be trained in and able to use special equipment (taser, pepper spray, handcuffs, ASIST training) within six months of appointment and provide documentation. Felony convictions or crimes of moral turpitude or misdemeanor convictions related to job duties may disqualify. Provide official disposition of charges if background check reveals any convictions. A physical exertion requirement: up to 100 lbs occasionally, up to 50 lbs frequently, or up to 20 lbs constantly to move objects.
