Cook - Muir Middle School (5:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.)

Position Cook – Muir Middle School (5:00 a.m.–10:00 a.m.) Status: School Year 2026–2027 Reports To: Kitchen Manager Location: Muir Middle School Salary: $16.25 – $18.00 per hour Responsibilities Prepare and serve nutritious and attractive meals. Assist with meal production as directed. Maintain and apply all safety, sanitation and cleanliness standards in all food service areas as required by federal, state, local and district regulations and policies. Assist with daily dishwashing and equipment maintenance. Operate the point of sale system and coordinate sales promotions. Assist in revenue collection, including deposits and student record‑keeping. Coordinate and implement sales promotions. Assist in coordination of events and activities. Report on and maintain records and forms for federal, state and local regulations. Support facility operations as directed. Essential Functions Prepare and serve nutritious meals. Assist with meal production and maintenance of cleanliness. Operate and maintain food production equipment. Inventory and stock food and supplies. Compile records for regulatory reporting. Operate computerized point‑of‑sale system. Assist in revenue collection and student record‑keeping. Public relations and communication with staff and students. Coordinate sales promotions and events. Support meal production during absence of Kitchen Manager or Head Cook. Assist in arranging substitutes to maintain program operation. Assist in printing, copying and distribution of publications and program administration. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma and/or related experience. Successful completion of ServSafe Certification Training (highly recommended). Demonstrated food service meal production and presentation skills. Knowledge and ability to practice and maintain high standards of sanitation and cleanliness. Ability to operate quantity food production equipment. Basic knowledge of nutrition. Knowledge of union contract, implementation and employee and employer rights. Positive interaction with children, adolescents, adults, co‑workers, managers and supervisors. Ability to use a computer for operation tasks. Ability to work independently without continuous supervision. Ability to deal with public, students and staff in a positive and safe manner. Supervisory Responsibilities None. Assist in training and support of substitute employees. Certificates, Licenses & Registrations Successful completion of ServSafe Certification Training (highly recommended). Education and/or Experience High school diploma and/or related experience. Language, Mathematical and Reasoning Skills Ability to speak and write effectively and to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
