Teacher - Social Studies

Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to join our team at Locust Grove Middle as a full‑time Social Studies teacher. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore historical events, cultural diversity, and civic responsibilities, fostering critical thinking and a deeper understanding of the world. This role requires a commitment to creating an engaging and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student growth and achievement. Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum guidelines in social studies. Create a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and respect for diverse perspectives. Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, projects, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to support their learning. Utilize a variety of teaching methods and instructional materials to accommodate different learning styles and abilities. Foster critical thinking and analytical skills by encouraging students to engage in discussions and debates on historical and contemporary issues. Collaborate with colleagues to integrate interdisciplinary approaches and enhance the overall educational experience. Communicate regularly with students, parents, and guardians regarding academic progress, behavior, and any concerns. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and trends in social studies education. Contribute to school activities, events, and committees as needed to support the school community. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, Social Studies, or a related field. Valid teaching certification in Social Studies for middle school level or willing to obtain. Strong knowledge of social studies content, including history, geography, economics, and civics. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students. Experience in classroom management and creating an inclusive learning environment. Proficiency in using technology and digital resources to enhance teaching and learning. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the community.
