Job Title

Job Duties and Responsibilities

1. Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance, or repair work of energized and de-energized conductors.
2. Capable of setting poles and anchors according to safety policies and specifications.
3. Maintains company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
4. Does all other related work as required to complete the job.
5. Able to perform rigorous physical labor.
6. Capable of learning distribution voltages on a circuit. Must be familiar with induced voltage.
7. Capable of learning to understand and read blueprints. Capable of assisting with inspecting and recognizing structural problems.
8. Able to work productively from an aerial device.
9. Able and willing to function within a team environment and share knowledge with fellow crew members as appropriate.
10. Able to work alone on de-energized lines. Capable of obtaining knowledge of wire stringing techniques.
11. Capable of learning and understanding how to sag wire from structure or bucket.
12. Able to assist with assembly and erect poles to all heights. Able to assist in framing and setting most basic line structures. Able to assist in framing a de-energized pole structure in the air.
13. Able to assist with installing all types of compression connections.
14. Capable of working at heights and/or confined spaces.
15. Capable of properly installing and removing PPE and cover up. Capable of properly inspecting rubber goods, covers and PPE.
16. Must be able to climb different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.) and possess the necessary capabilities to do so.
17. Understands how to tie various lineman knots. Capable of creating and using a hand line.
18. Understands grounding procedures.
19. Understands principles of proper equipment set-up.
20. Able to identify different types of materials used in line work.
21. Understands minimum approach distance.
22. Understands flag and tag procedures.
23. Capable of performing basic bucket rescue/escape.

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Requires journeyman level experience installing and maintaining overhead and underground power lines.
• Valid CDL A is required.
• First Aid Certification is required.
• Competency in CPR and pole top rescue is required.
• Must be able to pass drug, alcohol, and background checks.
• Must be able to pass a physical examination.
• Able and willing to travel long distances on short notice.
• Able and willing to work for extended periods in various locations.
• Able and willing to work in all types of weather environments including inclement weather.
• Able and willing to work overtime when required.
• Understanding of the utility industry and operations.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Working Conditions

Education

Required: High School or better.

Experience

Required: First Aid Certification Class A CDL

1-2 years: Lineman Experience
