Our organization is in search of an academic and clinical faculty member for the Department of Osteopathic Family and Community Medicine. This role will allocate 0.4 FTE to teaching clinical skills, delivering lectures, aiding in standardized patient assessments, grading, and engaging in clinical clerkship rotations. The remaining 0.6 FTE will be dedicated to clinical practice within the Family Medicine and/or Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Clinic at our Multispecialty Clinic, contingent on the faculty member's board certification in relevant specialties.

Teaching Responsibilities
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and participate in faculty retreats.

  • Design, implement, and evaluate the curriculum as a faculty member in pre-clinical courses.

  • Deliver clinical lectures, including the creation of associated learning objectives and exam questions.

  • Engage actively in the four-year teaching program, which encompasses OMM labs, physical examination labs, SOAP note assessments, OSCEs, and workshops on OMM and ultrasound, in line with your training.

  • Supervise students, Scholars, and residents in the MWU multispecialty clinic.

  • Support training initiatives for affiliated and sponsored GME programs.

  • Assist in developing standardized patient scenarios for examinations as needed.

  • Proctor and score Osteopathic Standardized Patient Examinations upon request.

  • Help remediate students who do not pass OSCE Examinations or need assistance preparing for COMLEX-USA exams.

  • Support rotation preceptor recruitment and conduct site visits as assigned.

  • Develop and deliver faculty development and training sessions for preceptors as requested.

  • If NMM-certified, provide instruction and mentorship to OMM Scholars and ONMM Residents as part of the ONMM didactic series and Applied Master of Osteopathic Education (AMOE).

Scholarly Activities
  • Actively participate in scholarly endeavors relevant to your expertise, including osteopathic research, quality improvement initiatives, invited presentations at state and national conferences, publications, poster presentations, peer reviews, and writing national board questions.

  • Serve as a Project Investigator (PI) for students and residents involved in scholarly projects.

Service Contributions
  • Guide students needing academic support and offer career counseling.

  • Attend mandatory meetings and serve on assigned committees, which may include those for the University, the Department of Clinical Education, the Department of Osteopathic Family & Community Medicine, the ONMM residency, and the Multispecialty Clinic.

  • Engage in community outreach efforts to enhance the visibility and reputation of the Department and the College of Osteopathic Medicine.

  • Participate in state, regional, and national professional societies, agencies, and committees.

  • Provide osteopathic clinical supervision for community care outreach activities as requested.

  • Act as an advisor to student organizations as needed.

  • Deliver patient care at the Multispecialty Clinic.

  • Participate in interviews for AZCOM applicants.

  • Maintain current board certification in your specialty.

  • Keep medical licensure active in the state of Arizona.

Qualifications
  • Possess an unrestricted Arizona state osteopathic medical license.

  • Hold a DEA license.

  • Have board certification or eligibility for AOA or ABMS certification.

  • Be able to secure malpractice insurance.
