Shift Lead

Summary of Job Purpose and Function The primary purpose of the Shift Lead is to perform the duties of a CSC and/or veterinary assistant/technician, and provide continuity and operational support across all shifts, ensuring that the hospital always has leadership onsite to support associates and clients. The Shift Lead will help coordinate and guide the paraprofessional staff and support hospital leadership in maximizing the productivity and profitability of the hospital. The position works with the Practice Manager and/or Chief of Staff to ensure effective communication with clients, associates, Field Leadership, Central Team Support, and PetSmart. Essential Responsibilities and Tasks Leadership duties (≈20% of time) and paraprofessional responsibilities (≈80% of time) are divided based on hospital needs. Responsibilities include leading, training, supervising staff; managing schedules; ensuring quality patient care; facilitating effective communication; maintaining financial and operational procedures; and ensuring compliance with protocols and regulations. Paraprofessional responsibilities include: live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc.; perform CSC and/or veterinary assistant duties such as recruiting clients, managing client flow, maximizing animal visits, providing professional service, educating clients on wellness plans, completing documentation, managing finances, assisting surgeons, conducting administrative functions, ensuring safety and cleanliness, and helping with inventory and equipment issues. Leadership responsibilities include: assist and develop efficient hospital team; support labor management; participate in staff selection, training, supervision; provide client service leadership; promote culture and engagement; communicate with associates and leadership; enforce dress and grooming guidelines; prepare surgical readiness; coordinate campus‑wide case assignments; identify bottlenecks; resolve client issues; train new staff; quality check records and equipment; and any other duties assigned. Minimum two years experience in healthcare, veterinary profession, or service industry; six months at Banfield preferred. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Medical background with terminology training preferred. Salary The pay range for this role is $17.57 – $22.45 hourly, based on experience, skill level, education and location.
