Salary Range The salary range for this position is $18.95 - $24.63 per hour. Placement within the range is based on relevant work experience, internal equity, and collective bargaining rules where applicable. Description This is a full‑time, 40‑hour per week phlebotomy position located at a draw site in Naples, Florida. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. The Client Office P Phlebotomist – Out of State reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Responsibilities Perform phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections in accordance with age‑related standards. Provide appropriate post‑phlebotomy patient care. Identify the need for patient medical assistance and call code as appropriate. Monitor and record refrigerator temperature(s) and QC/QA records; document concerns and report to maintenance or supervisor. Use manual requisitions and label specimens appropriately. Label and process specimens according to established protocols and policies. Effectively procure blood specimens from infants, adults, geriatric, and wheelchair‑bound patients. Demonstrate competency for age‑related responsibilities. Understand the operation and maintenance of equipment pertinent to the job. Follow up on outstanding orders on the manifest log, and communicate completed or pending draws/charges/results to client office staff. Obtain written physician orders with all required information and accurately order laboratory tests in the computer system(s). Prioritize tasks and multitask effectively. Maintain a recollection or cancellation rate of less than 2 percent. Follow the Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals regarding two patient identifiers and handwashing. Present a friendly, approachable, and professional demeanor. Provide accurate information and timely updates to patients and customers. Address questions and concerns promptly, or direct them to the appropriate individual or resource. Demonstrate teamwork by assisting coworkers within and across departments. Communicate effectively, respect diverse opinions, and acknowledge the contributions of others. Use organizational and unit/department resources efficiently. Manage work schedule efficiently and complete tasks on time. Participate in cost‑reduction, work‑process improvements, and service‑growth efforts. Notify Laboratory and/or Physician of problems with specimen procurement to ensure optimal care. Follow up on test results to appropriate individuals in a professional and courteous manner. Stay continuously updated via email and demonstrate compliance in MediaLab. Maintain a safe work environment and practice safe work behaviors. Adhere to recommendations and requirements of the Lab and Hospital Safety Committee. Perform all patient care duties to minimize medical/health‑care errors. Comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. Perform clerical duties related to handling and processing lab specimens, including faxing, printing, filing, and releasing laboratory results. Initiate responsibilities without prompting and complete tasks independently. Demonstrate commitment to team values consistently. Interact with team members professionally and assist coworkers in completing assigned tasks. Travel to additional sites when needed. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. Phlebotomy certification from a nationally recognized organization or completion of a phlebotomy school or medical institution training, or at least one year of phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting. Preferred Experience performing phlebotomy on a broad range of patient types. Experience with processing lab specimens, transferring specimens, and handling a centrifuge. Familiarity with medical EMR systems. Knowledge of medical terminology. Bilingual skills.
