Paint & Load Operations Lead – Structural Steel

Location: Cocoa, FL
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: 1st Shift; provides oversight for potential 2nd Shift operations
Starting Pay: $30.00/hour, with higher pay available based on experience

Seeking an experienced Paint & Load Operations Lead to direct daily painting, blasting, and steel loading activities. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for coordinating employees and workflow, maintaining quality standards, supporting training, and ensuring work is completed safely and on schedule.

Team Leadership & Training

• Help interview and evaluate candidates for department positions.
• Train new employees on painting, loading, procedures, and job expectations.
• Provide consistent, professional leadership and support a productive team environment.
• Assist with corrective action and progressive discipline when required.

Painting & Quality Control

• Oversee daily painting, blasting, and loading activities.
• Verify work meets project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and quality standards.
• Complete and maintain required daily paint documentation.
• Perform routine checks with gauges, meters, and other testing equipment to verify proper operation and calibration.
• Conduct QA/QC inspections of completed work and identify issues requiring correction.

Production & Shipping

• Review load tickets for accuracy and ensure required information is entered into production/shipping software.
• Train employees on production and shipping systems as needed.
• Work with production, logistics, and management to prioritize painting and loading assignments.
• Monitor schedules and coordinate department activities to meet delivery deadlines.
• Support overtime and weekend work when production schedules require it.
• Identify process improvements and communicate recommendations to management.

Safety

• Enforce workplace safety procedures and address unsafe practices.
• Promote a safety-focused work environment across the department.

• 5+ years of experience in structural steel painting and/or loading operations.
• At least 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience .
• Strong knowledge of industrial/structural steel painting standards and quality-control practices.
• Experience with QA/QC processes, gauges, meters, and testing equipment.
• Familiarity with production or shipping software preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to train employees and manage a team.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and accuracy.
• Commitment to workplace safety and compliance.
