Customs Trade Specialist

Responsibilities This position is responsible for various tasks assigned, providing FedEx Express and customers the required entry services and promoting exceptional customer service by securing relationships with express and their customers. The role facilitates all necessary entry processing and cage functions to secure release of shipments timely and accurately in accordance with CBP and OGA regulations and time frames. It serves as the primary link between FedEx Express and FTN for account and shipment-specific issues, completing audit activities such as complex EWSR’s, high duty, ABI warnings and errors, census rejects, high-entered value, duty verification, FDA audits, and other FTN audit functions. The employee records and tracks complex audit issues to initiate corrective action and works with FedEx Trade Networks, FDA tech services, and quality assurance groups. Responsibilities also include sorting and assigning departmental incoming work, monitoring daily workflow to meet regulatory time frames, referring major problems to the manager, communicating with shippers, clients, and customs or other governmental agencies, and researching and writing claims and protests to resolve duty, tax, and valuation issues. The role obtains refunds, tenders duties, and processes them in the FTN online billing application, gathers information for distribution and report building, and produces operational and trend reports for management distribution. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 12 months of industry experience (preferred 24 months).
• Minimum of 6 months of related work experience (minimum 3 years business experience including 2 years related experience preferred).
• Knowledge of CBP and OGA regulations, tariff schedules, general import procedures, and systems.
• Ability to work in a time‑sensitive environment with high accuracy and productivity.
• Excellent computer, organizational, and communication skills; proficient in a Windows environment and capable of data entry, document creation, and basic office equipment operation.
• Ability to use multiple systems and reference material, and interact with customers, carriers, brokers, government agencies, internal staff, and management of all levels.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with customs regulations and harmonized tariff schedules.
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Willingness to work overtime during periods of high volume and company‑recognized holidays.

Work Schedule Monday – Friday: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm CST. Hybrid only. Candidates must live within a 50‑mile radius of 2808 S. Ingram Mill Road, Bldg. B, Springfield, MO 65804. Pay $21.14 – $29.59 per hour. Compensation is commensurate with experience, market level, location, and other factors. Additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential may be available.
