Overview Registered Nurse, Med Surg (Travel) – Rome, New York, United States Start date: 08/10/2026 Duration: 13 weeks Weekly pay: $1,960–$2,120 per week Guaranteed hours: 36 per week Shift: 3x12-hour nights Setting: Hospital This travel assignment is managed by Healthforce Healthcare LLC and requires a current NYS nursing license, BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke certification prior to start. • Med/Surg with Telemetry, float to step-down as needed

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care for adult medical-surgical and telemetry patients, including monitoring vital signs and cardiac rhythms.
• Float to the step-down unit as needed and maintain patient safety, accuracy in documentation, and appropriate handoffs.
• Administer medications and cardiac drips per order; monitor for adverse effects and respond to changes in patient condition.
• Manage IV therapy, wound care, dressing changes, and meticulous line care with attention to infection control.
• Read and interpret telemetry/EKG strips, respond to rhythm abnormalities, and communicate findings to the care team.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement plan of care; document in the electronic health record; uphold patient safety and quality standards.
• Follow unit protocols, maintain nurse-patient ratios (1:5), and ensure compliance with NIH Stroke protocols where applicable.

Requirements

• Active New York State Registered Nurse license
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• NIH Stroke Certification required before start
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience (Med-Surg/Telemetry preferred)
• Ability to float to MS/Telemetry/step-down units as needed
• Travel experience preferred; flu vaccine or declination accepted
• Strong IV skills; comfortable with cardiac medications/drips and reading EKG strips
• Wound care experience and ability to manage cardiac monitoring and telemetry patient needs
