Overview

Join a dedicated healthcare team supporting physicians and licensed medical staff in a busy outpatient OB/GYN clinic located in the Southeastern United States. This role involves both clinical and administrative duties to ensure smooth patient care and office operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with obtaining patient vital signs and update medical records accurately.
• Collect and process lab and pathology samples following established protocols.
• Perform quality and safety checks on testing equipment and supplies.
• Provide patient education under provider guidance.
• Administer treatments, dressing changes, medications, and therapies as directed by licensed providers.
• Support providers during procedures and examinations.
• Prepare and handle reusable instruments for sterilization.
• Manage biohazard and pharmaceutical waste disposal according to OSHA standards.
• Maintain a clean and safe patient care environment by adhering to infection prevention standards.
• Assist with front desk duties including greeting patients and scheduling appointments.
• Support billing and coding processes by assisting with ICD and CPT input.
• Coordinate with external healthcare partners to facilitate patient care plans.
• Monitor electronic communication systems and respond promptly.
• Perform components of well visits and scheduled nursing visits as directed.
• Complete all required documentation prior to provider visits.
• Perform high-level disinfection tasks as needed.
• Flexibility to float to other clinics as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program with national certification (e.g., CMA, RMA, CCMA) is mandatory.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
• Preferred: Minimum of 1 year clinical experience in an outpatient setting.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to recognize and respond to life-threatening situations promptly.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, staff, and providers both in person and via phone.
• Physical capability to perform clinical tasks including standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
• Comfortable handling potentially infectious materials with appropriate precautions.
