Intervention Specialist - 2026-27 (LSFSS)

Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Intervention Specialist to join our elementary team for the 2026-27 school year. Under general supervision, the Intervention Specialist will plan and implement goals and objectives, curricula, and manage programs for at‑risk students needing academic support. The Intervention Specialist will work as part of a team on behalf of the student with regular classroom teachers, administrators, and parents to ensure that students are provided with needed support. Interested LSFSS staff will be considered for the first five (5) business days of this posting. Interviews may not be scheduled until mid-August. Responsibilities Work with teachers to provide subject area intervention in core academic subjects. Administer, score, and record achievement on diagnostic tests as recommended for individual students. Work with individual students or small groups of students to deliver targeted academic support. Work with the teacher in developing or devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on understanding of individual student needs, interests, and abilities. Guide independent and remedial work. Alert the classroom teacher and/or Teacher Consultant to any problem or special information about an individual student. Maintain a required record of student work and progress. Utilize district systems to monitor student performance, attendance, and intervention needs. Responsible for maintaining materials and work areas in an orderly and organized manner conducive to work habits and study. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students. Participate in in‑service training programs as directed. Use instructional technology to facilitate student learning and in the performance of duties. Follow all applicable safety rules, procedures, and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students. Perform other duties consistent with the job goal for the benefit of students and school. Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred. Experience working with at‑risk elementary students in an academic support or intervention setting preferred. Knowledge of differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles. Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students. Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed. Ability to organize and coordinate work. Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents. Ability to engage in self‑evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work. Travel Requirements Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. Work Schedule Approximately 7 hours per day / 35 hours per week, as set forth in the LSFSS Unit Contract. Individuals with an advanced degree receive additional compensation added to their base hourly rate (Associates Degree $1.00 per hour extra, BA $2.00, MA $3.00).
