Position Description
San Angelo State Supported Living Center is seeking a qualified Dentist to provide comprehensive dental care to individuals residing at the facility as well as certain individuals receiving services in community-based settings.


The Dentist will provide preventive, restorative, emergency, and advanced dental care while working with a specialized population that includes individuals with intellectual disabilities. The role requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with medical and dental professionals.


The Dentist will work under the supervision of the Medical Director and should be comfortable working independently while following facility policies and applicable healthcare standards.
Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive, limited, and emergency dental examinations
• Provide restorative dental procedures
• Perform simple extractions
• Complete crown preparations and denture cases
• Provide advanced dental care and treatment
• Work alongside an anesthesia provider for complete oral rehabilitation when needed
• Develop written treatment plans and provide justification for irreversible dental treatments
• Promote and maintain optimal oral hygiene among patients
• Provide safe, evidence-based dental care
• Accurately document clinical encounters in electronic medical and dental records
• Use electronic health records and digital dentistry technology
• Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and members of the healthcare team
• Present clinical information as needed
• Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Maintain organized and timely clinical documentation
• Work with minimal supervision
• Follow facility SOPs, CMS standards, SGSSLC policies, HHSC requirements, rules, and directives

Requirements

• Current, unrestricted Texas Dentist license through TDLR
• Current, unrestricted DEA registration
• National Provider Identifier ( NPI )
• Current American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification
• Proficiency with computers and electronic health records
• Experience with digital dentistry preferred
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Must successfully complete required HHSC drug testing
• Must successfully complete required fingerprinting
• Must complete all required facility and HHSC training
• Must meet HHSC immunization requirements
• Must comply with facility and agency attendance and leave policies
• Must comply with applicable HHSC and SGSSLC rules, regulations, and policies
