School Based Therapist

They School Based Outpatient LMHP shall provide clinical and administrative activities for each school based outpatient case to include weekly collaboration with school personnel, ongoing collaboration with professionals associated with the care of the client (i.e. psychiatrist, primary care physician, social services, probation officer etc...) collecting school referrals as needed and completing required case documentation on a concurrent basis. They’re also responsible for managing their caseload and overall productivity. School Based Outpatient LMHP shall acquire a majority of their productivity in the school setting but may request additional outpatient cases in the office setting. Essential Functions Statement(s) Employs effective listening skills to establish rapport with individuals, groups, couples, and family members to provide emotional support and encouragement, and engage family members in the service process. Provide clinical and administrative activities for each individual case to include: Taking Referrals (as necessary) Complete initial screenings (as necessary) Collecting payment for services to include co-pays Initiates and provides ongoing communication with other service professionals to ensure coordination of care. Provides crisis intervention (as necessary). Conducts and prepares written diagnostic assessments, assessing individuals from multiple perspectives, including family functioning, psychological/emotional, social, academic, medical, behavioral, substance abuse, skills, strengths, and treatment history. Utilizes various assessment instruments as needed. Meets with individuals and provides treatment necessary for the client to remain successful. Provides regular monitoring for individuals to include assistance with learning and carrying out necessary treatment goals. Develops and implements treatment plans. Documents case activities for all services and billing purposes. Maintains individual goals/monthly productivity; reviews appropriate metrics with school based coordinator monthly. Maintains high quality standards for services rendered. Maintains readiness for external and internal audits. Maintain supervision requirements and CEU requirements set forth by the VA board of counseling to remain active as a resident. SKILLS & ABILITIES Education Master’s Degree in approved Human Services field with a degree in Psychology, Counseling, Human Services, Sociology, Special Education (or other approved degree to qualify as a Qualified Mental Health Professional) from an accredited College or University. Related experience defined as providing direct clinical services to children and adolescents with a mental illness. It includes supervised internships, practicums and field experience to individuals with a diagnosis of mental illness. Experience Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions. Computer Skills Utilize computer software, to include Electronic Health Record, Human Resource, and Training programs. Certificates & Licenses Licensed Mental Healthcare Provider or Resident or Supervisee in the commonwealth of Virginia. Other Requirements Must be able to navigate up and down stairs while carrying several sheets of paper. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Lift/Carry: 10–30 lbs occasionally, 31–100 lbs not applicable. Push/Pull: 14–30 lbs occasionally. General mobility: Stand, Walk, Sit frequently; climb, squat or kneel occasionally. Vision, hearing, and tactile senses required.
