Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Cardiac Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty License: RN License required Certifications: BLS & ACLS AHA only Must-Have: - Cardiac telemetry and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience required - Previous charge experience: 3 years - Patient ratio experience: 4 - Charting system experience required - Community hospital experience preferred - Travel experience required Description: The position requires a Registered Nurse specializing in stepdown cardiac care. The nurse will work in a fast-paced cardiac/telemetry unit caring for intermediate and general cardiology patients. Experience with coronary artery disease, heart failure, and dysrhythmias management is essential. The nurse will provide expert care for patients post-cardiac procedures such as angioplasty, stent placement, and pacemaker revisions. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy is expected. The nurse will manage titratable vasoactive drips and administer therapeutic medications. Responsibilities include monitoring arterial access sites, performing arterial blood gas interpretation, and managing cardiac drips without titration. A telemetry test must be passed prior to starting the assignment. The position involves providing support and education to patients and collaborating with advanced teams for pre-transplant and LVAD patients. This role requires strong assessment skills and the ability to respond quickly to changes in patient conditions.
