Overview Our Commitment to Equity The job of ECEAP (Early Childhood Education Assistance Program) Family Support Specialist is to provide quality comprehensive child/family support services to children birth to 5 years and their families; provide support, training, and case management to assist parents in meeting the needs of their children; enhance parents’ role as the primary influence on their child’s education and development; support parents in increasing their economic stability; determine eligibility for the program and enrolling families in the program; enlist parental involvement in child educational programs; work with parents in identifying and achieving goals; access support services; create training programs; and facilitate positive parent, school, and student relationships. This job will support YMCA ECEAP programs in our Redmond and Bellevue Early Education Centers. Job Summary This position is with the Youth Development Programs Branch at the YMCA of Greater Seattle. Every year, we serve over 5,000 children, youth, young adults, and families across King County with programs that aim to strengthen young people’s ability to develop to their fullest potential. The Youth Development Programs Branch include Early Education, ECEAP, Seattle Preschool Program, before and after school programming, and Day Camps. Position Type/Location This full-time position will support ourEastgate Early Education Center in Bellevue, WA Monday through Friday, with scheduled hours falling between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. PT. Assess family and infant/child needs Assist parents in a variety of areas to develop an action plan to remove barriers to child’s success in school. Orient families to establish familiarity with program, services, and required processes. Provide health screenings, immunization verifications, and outside agency referrals to promote needed treatment and comply with program requirements. Visit families’ homes to build relationships and set family goals. Plan and facilitate family meetings and parent involvement events to comply with program regulations. Develop individualized health, nutrition, and family support plans for all enrolled children to further family goals, plans, and success strategies. Participate in workshops, meetings, community events, etc. to receive and/or present information. Report suspected incidents (e.g. physical, sexual, and/or substance abuse and neglect, contagious disease, etc.) to appropriate parties to maintain student’s personal health and safety, while adhering to district/program policies. Provide outreach to low-income communities and organizations to develop family resources and build partnerships. Administer State and Federal Performance Standards to ensure program eligibility and compliance with mandated regulations. Assist with other personnel as may be required to ensure an efficient and effective work environment. Maintain a variety of manual and electronic documents, files, and records to provide required information and/or documentation. Ability to support daily center operations by serving in an in-ratio classroom role as needed. Identify and elevate potential non-compliance or risk issues to supervisors promptly. Participate in a variety of internal meetings to maintain knowledge of industry requirements, support optimal customer care, and maintain team collaboration. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Maintain required minimum qualifications for the position such as licenses, certifications, or credentials. Perform any tasks to assist in keeping a clean, safe, and efficient working environment. Integrate all safety policies and procedures into daily practice. Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and state and federal regulations. Other duties as assigned. The position may also be modified to accommodate the specific needs of the business. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Associate or higher degree in any field with 30 job-related credits or Credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, or counseling or Current Home Visitor CDA (Child Development Associate) credential from Council for Professional Recognition. Ability to complete initial health examination and/or TB screening as required by state licensing. Complete Criminal Record Check. Obtain First Aid and Infant/Child CPR card within 90 days of hiring and keep current. Obtain Food Handler’s Permit within 90 days of hiring and keep current Have a valid Driver’s License and have access to a personal vehicle with insurance coverage 3 years experience working as a Lead Teacher in a Childcare environment Intermediate computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office suite. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with ECEAP or Headstart programs. Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.) Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful. Ability to work independently and within teams. Knowledge of, or experience working with high risk, systems involved (i.e. homeless, justice, behavioral health, foster care) youth and/or young adults or equivalent experience providing community-based services to diverse Physical Requirements Role may require standing, walking, squatting, sitting, typing, bending, reaching, twisting, repetitive hand movements, and driving. Hearing must be adequate to perform job duties in person, over the telephone, and in virtual meetings. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently in person, over the telephone, and in virtual meetings. Visual acuity must be adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of information from printed sources and computer screens. Must be able to remain stationary in a sitting or standing position up to 95% of the time. Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move anywhere from 5 lbs. - 50 lbs. Requires lifting above the shoulders frequently. Physical Requirements This position will spend 70% of time in an indoor office environment. This position will spend 20% of time in classrooms observing and supporting youth This position will spend 10% in home visits with families This is an in-person role requiring 5 days a week in a Childcare Center. Requires driving and other travel up to 10% of the time. The regular weekly schedule for this position will be Monday-Friday and hours will vary between 6:45am-7:00pm. Position will require some evenings or weekend meetings to meet the need of ECEAP families.
