Global Trade Compliance Specialist

The Global Trade Compliance Specialist will report to the GTS US leadership team and will be responsible for supporting trade compliance operations with a strong focus on import and export regulations, sanctions compliance, and special tariff programs. As part of your role, you'll significantly contribute to ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs and international trade requirements while supporting business continuity and operational efficiency. You'll be at the forefront of advising stakeholders on trade and customs matters, partnering closely with Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement, Sales, and Customs Brokers to mitigate compliance risks and drive compliant trade operations.

You'll have the opportunity to:

• Manage and support daily U.S. import and export compliance activities.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and export control requirements.
• Review and validate commercial documents, customs entries, broker filings, and shipping documentation.
• Support customs audits, post-entry reviews, and corrective actions as required.
• Monitor customs compliance metrics and identify process improvements.
• Serve as the primary subject matter expert for:
• Section 232 tariffs
• Section 301 tariffs
• U.S. duty mitigation and special trade programs
• Preferential trade agreements reviews, including USMCA
• Evaluate tariff impacts and develop compliance recommendations for the business.
• Support duty savings opportunities and trade optimization initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. sanctions and trade restrictions.
• Review transactions involving embargoed or sanctioned countries, entities, and individuals.
• Partner with Legal and Compliance teams on sanctions-related matters.
• Work closely with customs brokers
• Resolve customs clearance issues impacting shipments.
• Support product classification, valuation, and origin determinations.
• Provide trade compliance guidance to internal stakeholders across multiple business functions.
• Develop and maintain procedures, work instructions, and training materials.
• Participate in compliance projects and business transformation initiatives.

You'll thrive in this role if you have the following skills, experience and competencies:

Required:

• Bachelor's Degree in International Trade, Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, Customs, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in U.S. import/export operations and trade compliance.
• Strong working knowledge of:
• U.S. Customs regulations
• Section 232 tariffs
• Section 301 tariffs
• HTS classification
• U.S. sanctions compliance
• Experience managing customs brokers and external service providers.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Location and in office expectations: Required to work onsite in the ''X'' office 50% of the time, or the equivalent of 5 days per 2 weeks.

Preferred:

• Experience in the automotive or auto parts industry.
• Hands-on experience with SAP GTS.
• Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation
• Experience supporting audits, customs inquiries, and regulatory reviews.
• Knowledge of global trade compliance processes beyond the U.S.
• Country of origin rules
• USMCA requirements
