VENIPUNCTURE TECH - INPATIENT

Phlebotomist

The purpose of this position is to approach all patients in a friendly, respectful manner and perform venipuncture to collect specimens for testing as ordered by the patient’s physician according to established policies and procedures. Responsibilities include approaching patients in a positive, professional and respectful manner, communicating clearly and professionally with all Aultman team members, verifying correct patient identification and labeling specimens following established procedures, performing phlebotomy on patients of all age groups according to established procedures, maintaining a stocked, clean work environment, following all departmental and organizational safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment, completing and/or assisting with tasks during downtime without being assigned, assisting coworkers as needed to maintain a pleasant, friendly work environment, assisting with training students and new personnel, and completing educational requirements and competency assessments as assigned.

Educational/experience requirements include prior phlebotomy experience preferred and a high school diploma or equivalent. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, or veteran status.

Working conditions include being staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the shift, and sitting/standing/moving about during working hours. Physical requirements include standing, walking, lifting (70 pounds), carrying (70 pounds), pushing (70 pounds), stooping/bending, twisting/turning, kneeling/squatting, reaching up/reaching forward. Additional information concerning physical requirements for the position includes exposure to blood and body fluids.
