Registered Nurse (RN), Med/SurgFLSA Classification: Non-Exempt - Eligible for Overtime Employment Status: PRNLocation: Harrison County Community Hospital (HCCH) Reports to: Director of NursingJob Summary/Objective: The Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality, compassionate nursing care to patients. This role involves assessing, planning, and implementing individualized care plans, monitoring patient conditions, and collaborating with the healthcare team to support optimal patient outcomes. Responsibilities include administering medications, managing treatments, and adhering to the standards of nursing practice. This role requires graduation from an accredited nursing program and a current RN license.Essential Functions/Duties/Responsibilities:Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.Administer medications, including IV therapy, and perform treatments as ordered by physicians.Monitor and document patients' responses to treatment, reporting any changes in condition to the healthcare team.Educate patients and their families on health management, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.Provide direct patient care, including wound care, hygiene assistance, and other personal care tasks as necessary.Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality, safe, and effective patient care.Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.Assist in coordinating and overseeing patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.Participate in patient safety and quality improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.Perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, collecting specimens, and administering injections.Respond quickly to changes in patient conditions, implementing life-saving interventions when necessary.Serve as a resource to CNAs, LPNs, and other staff, providing guidance and support.Stay current on best practices in nursing through continuing education and training programs.Skills / Abilities:Strong clinical skills with the ability to perform accurate assessments and critical thinking in patient care.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and team members.Organizational and time-management skills to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.High attention to detail in monitoring patient conditions and documenting care.Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and clinical equipment.Education, Certificates, and License: Education:Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program required.Certificates / License:Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Missouri.Certifications:Basic Life Support (BLS), active or obtainable within 30 days of hireAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), active or obtainable within 6 months of hireAdditional certifications as required by the department or for specialty patient careExperience:1-2 years of nursing experience in an inpatient or hospital setting preferred.Physical Requirements:Lifting: Regularly lift/move patients or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.Mobility: Frequent walking, standing, and moving for extended periods.Posture: Bending, twisting, and reaching as needed during patient care.Dexterity: Fine motor skills for tasks like administering injections, dressing wounds, or operating medical equipment.EEOC Statement: Harrison County Community Hospital District provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type, without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other characteristic protected by law.This job description is not designed to cover all duties and responsibilities that may be required.
