Information & Communications Specialist III

Job Overview Title: Information & Communications Spec III (S) – a temporary position located at 3200 Beechleaf Court, Raleigh, Wake County, within the Department of Insurance, under the Office of State Human Resources Division. Position Number: NC16, Grade NC16. Temporary status: No leave or retirement benefits are offered. Temporary employees working an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). Effective July 1, 2025, candidates must meet the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants. Responsibilities Travel throughout the state of North Carolina as needed to attend meetings with Hispanic and Military communities. Create initiatives in collaboration with local media (radio, television, and social media) and distribute printed material from NCDOI to reach and educate these groups regarding their rights and responsibilities as insurance policy holders. Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, public affairs, media, journalism, English, or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience in communications, public relations, or publicity work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Hourly rate of pay: $40.00, based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application.
