PT Advanced Manufacturing Workforce Certification Instructor

DEFINITION: To provide high-quality classroom, laboratory, and hands‑on instruction in advanced manufacturing principles, technologies, and practices. The instructor will prepare students for entry‑level and advanced careers in manufacturing through training in areas such as industrial safety, manufacturing processes, equipment operation, quality control, technical skills, and industry‑recognized workforce certifications. Faculty, whether designated as curriculum or continuing education, may be assigned instructional hours in either curriculum or continuing education courses as necessary to meet minimum workload requirements and institutional needs. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: Receives supervision and technical direction from the Workforce Training Coordinator Exercises no supervision ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS: Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Essential Functions: Plan, prepare, and deliver classroom, laboratory, and hands‑on instruction in advanced manufacturing and related technologies; develop instructional materials, lesson plans, assessments, and learning activities that support student success. Provide instruction aligned, as applicable, with SME technical certification pathways such as Certified Manufacturing Associate (CMfgA), Certified Manufacturing Technologist (CMfgT), and Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE), while supporting progression from foundational manufacturing knowledge to higher‑level technical and professional competency. Teach manufacturing topics that may include safety, quality, measurement and inspection, engineering drawings, manufacturing processes, materials, production systems, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, maintenance, automation, digital manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 concepts. Integrate maritime manufacturing applications, examples, projects, and employer needs into instruction where appropriate to support the Maritime Talent Pipeline and Workforce Development initiative. Evaluate student performance through assignments, examinations, laboratory activities, and competency‑based assessments; maintain accurate and timely records of attendance, grades, certifications, and student progress. Participate in the development, implementation, review, and continuous improvement of curriculum, course content, instructional methods, and program outcomes to ensure alignment with industry standards, workforce needs, and accreditation requirements. Continuously monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; assess and monitor workload, administrative and support systems, and internal reporting relationships; identify opportunities for improvement. Develop and revise instructional materials, laboratory exercises, and training resources. Maintain a safe, organized, and effective learning environment by overseeing laboratories, equipment, tools, and training aids; ensure compliance with college policies, industry regulations, and applicable safety standards. Advise and mentor students regarding academic progress, career pathways, employability skills, industry certifications, and transfer or employment opportunities within the Advanced Manufacturing field. Other Important Functions: Assess material, supply, and equipment needs for the program; submit requests for the ordering of supplies. Help maintain an inventory of equipment and supplies. Participate in the program efforts to recruit and retain students; coordinate the development, review, and revision of program publications, publicity and other community relations’ activities. Work with industry partners and faculty to ensure our programs are teaching the most up to date techniques and the latest industry trends. Serve on college committees, attend required meetings, participate in faculty development activities, and support departmental, divisional, and institutional initiatives. Ensure the adherence to safe and appropriate work practices and procedures. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Develop, review, and update course outlines, lesson plans, laboratory exercises, certification‑preparation materials, assessments, and instructional resources in coordination with department leadership and appropriate program faculty. Support a stackable credential model that allows participants to progress from introductory manufacturing certifications into discipline‑specific credentials in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Integrated Machining, Welding Technology, Nuclear Technology, and related workforce specialties. Provide instruction or certification preparation for additional industry‑recognized credentials as assigned and within demonstrated qualifications, which may include OSHA safety, Lean/Six Sigma, quality, metrology, CAD/digital design, CNC machining, welding, automation/controls, and other employer‑validated credentials. Use hands‑on demonstrations, applied projects, simulations, manufacturing equipment, technical documentation, and workplace scenarios to reinforce certification competencies and measurable student learning outcomes. Evaluate student readiness for certification examinations; maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, assessment results, credential attempts, and credential attainment as required. QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of: Organizational and management practices as applied to the planning, analysis and evaluation of programs, policies and operational needs. Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations. Principles and procedures of academic and instructional program development and administration in the area of assignment. Principles and practices of curriculum development and instructional strategies. Current trends, research and development in the area of assignment. Ability To: Interpret and apply college goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Interpret and apply Federal, State and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations. Analyze problems; identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals. Effectively direct the provisions of the academic area to which assigned in support of the college programs. Gain cooperation through discussion and persuasion. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. Maintain effective audio‑visual discrimination and perception needed for: Making observations Reading and writing Communicating with others Operating assigned equipment Handling varied tasks simultaneously Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following: Standing or sitting for extended periods of time Operating assigned equipment Handling varied tasks simultaneously Bending, stooping, climbing, or lifting up to 50 pounds Maintain mental capacity, which allow the capability of: Making sound decisions Responding to questions Demonstrating intellectual capabilities EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Minimum Education/Training: Education or Certification(s) or industry experience in the advanced manufacturing field. This position REQUIRES UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS AND/OR TRAINING CERTIFICATIONS be submitted in addition to the application. Candidates are required to submit OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS for all degrees obtained prior to their first day of work or hire date. If the highest level of education is a High School diploma or equivalent, proof of completion is required. Candidates who have obtained their education outside of the US and its territories must have their academic degree(s) validated, at their own expense, by an outside credential evaluation service as equivalent to the Baccalaureate or Master's degree conferred by a regionally accredited college or university in the United States.
