• Fluency in Spanish

Job Description

The Referral Coordinator is responsible for managing and processing patient referrals for an OBGYN practice. This role works closely with providers, patients, insurance companies, and specialty offices to ensure timely authorization and coordination of care. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced with insurance verification and referral workflows.

Job Responsibilities:

• Review authorizations for correctness of CPT codes/procedures.
• Submits all authorization to IPA within 24 hours of assignment from the provider. This includes direct referrals.
• Scan/upload IPA approvals daily into the patient’s Authorization folder. Enter, update, and maintain all Authorization information in the patient's EMR.
• Responsible for notifying patients of authorization status. Schedule appointments as applicable i.e. radiological services, tests, etc.
• Requests authorizations extensions, modifications and retroactive authorization request as needed.
• Authorization coordinator follows up on all referrals by verifying a consult referral report, approval of prior authorization, previous labs, procedures and etc. have been received. If no Consult referral documentation has been received, the authorization coordinator must contact the Referring provider’s office to follow up and obtain status and or request copies of referral notes
• Assist parents/patients that come into the office with questions regarding their child’s authorization/s.
• Triage and prioritize patient calls and messages to provide call backs in a timely manner and between 24-48 hours receipt.
• A minimum of 30 authorizations are to be processed daily.
• Organize and prioritize workload to assure timely verification and authorization processing
• Always have a professional attitude and provide excellent customer service to patients, external sources, physicians and colleagues.
• Performs all other duties that may be assigned by your Supervisor
• Attend meetings as directed.
• Maintains strictest confidentiality; adhering to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations  

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Los Angeles, CA 90033.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
