Job Opportunity

Position: Neuro Stepdown Nurse

We are seeking an experienced Neuro Stepdown Nurse for a night shift position, offering a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive healthcare environment. This role requires a compassionate individual skilled in providing high-quality care to patients recovering from neurological conditions.

Shift Details

• Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)
• Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend
• On Call: As Needed

Qualifications

• Licensure: Valid CA RN License required
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a Stepdown or Telemetry Unit required; travel experience preferred
• Charge Experience: Preferred
• Charting System: Experience with Epic required
• Community Hospital Experience: Required
• Specialized Experience: LTAC, Trauma Level I, and Trauma Level II experience preferred

Skills Required

• Accessing and managing ports
• BiPAP/CPAP management
• Blood product administration
• Central line care and management
• Telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote)
• Pre/Post neurosurgery management
• Seizure disorders and stroke care
• Use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Wound care and management practices

Unit Details

The unit is a 30-bed facility dedicated to the care of adult and geriatric patients with neuro-related diagnoses, primarily focusing on stroke recovery. It provides an interdisciplinary approach supported by teams in IV therapy, respiratory services, social work, pharmacy, and rapid response.

Patient Care Focus

Patient ratios are typically 3:1 for stepdown patients and 4:1 for telemetry patients, ensuring comprehensive monitoring and care for those recovering from serious medical conditions.
