Sr Mechanical Engineer in Transformer Value StreamAs a Sr Mechanical Engineer in transformer value stream, you will play a key role in product design of devices to monitor transformer health. You will be designing, developing, creating prototypes, optimizing and testing. This role will interact with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, EE designers, manufacturing test engineers and peers from the global R&D organization. You will design, develop, and create 3D models, detailed mechanical drawings, BOMs, electro-mechanical parts, and gauges. The primary goal will be the design and development of new products and customizations for our Utilities and industrial customers. We use Agile development Methods and the Scrum Framework to deliver critical, customer-facing, solutions.Here's where you'll demonstrate your proficiency:Design complex components & assemblies with customer in mind focusing on Quality, Cost and DFMUtilize critical thinking for continuous improvement: Identify opportunities for innovation and process enhancements including but not limited to using automation and AI toolsFabricate physical prototypes for proof of concept and testingMechanical and structural analysis as needed (FEA using SolidWorks)Present mechanical design concepts to project teamsEvaluate new components, materials, and manufacturing methods for application in new and existing products.Verify acceptance criteria is met, support transition to production, and perform failure analysis on problem areas.Document features, issues, and tests in compliance with our internal processesBe able to derive configured product models from the existing products.Able to perform Engineering Change Requests that involve updating drawings and BOMs.Ensure designs meet industry standards and regulatory requirementsConduct design reviews, assist in FMEA, PFMEA and supporting root cause analysis for mechanical issuesThe successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:Must have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field. Master's degree is a plus.5-7 years or more experience as a design Engineer.Extensive experience developing 3D CAD designs for parts and test fixtures using Creo, SolidWorks, or similar design platforms.Good grasp on Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing standards and best practicesAbility to operate machine tools to touch up prototype parts, adding details, threading, polishing, and other operations to finish parts before building and testingExperience in designs consisting of electro-mechanical and optical integrationExperience with DFM and processes such as injection molding, machining, sheet metal forming and aluminum casting.Familiarity with JIRA, and AI tools are desirableRalliant, originally part of Fortive, now stands as a bold, independent public company driving innovation at the forefront of precision technology.
